Norit
NORIT is one of the most
important manufacturers of activated carbon in the world.
The company has manufactured activated carbon for more
than 80 years in its factories in Holland, United Kingdom
and the United States. Currently the company has over
150 different types of carbon, which enables us to attend
to the needs of any kind of client and product.
Our line of products
Norit activated
carbon, manufactured in the United Kingdom, is
made from wood chemically activated with phosphoric acid.
This type of acid is very effective for the elimination
of coloring molecules and other impurities with high specific
weight.
Darco activated carbon,
manufactured in the US, is made from heat and vapor activated
lignite. This product is specially indicated for the elimination
of unpleasant flavors and other substances with low molecular
weight.
Low quantity of Heavy Metals
The purity of the beverages
to be treated with activated carbon is of great importance
to NORIT. Therefore the carbons used should not transfer
to the product any metal that could be dangerous or contribute
any odor. It should be noted that NORIT abides by environment
friendly rules and procedures.
The International Enological Code (Codex Oenologique International)
made by the International Office of Vine and Wine warns
about the use of carbons activated through zinc chloride.

This product is made of raw wood and/or carbonized wood
through the traditional method: vapor and heat.
This products structure is composed of micro and macro
pores, with predominance of macro pores. This last characteristic
gives this product an excellent filtrating capacity.
